SOUTHEASTERN TAYLOR COUNTIES IS CANCELLED...



The storms which prompted the warning have moved out of the warned 

area. Therefore, the warning has been cancelled.



A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until midnight CDT for

south central Iowa.

...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 900 PM CDT

FOR WESTERN DECATUR...SOUTHEASTERN MADISON...CLARKE AND SOUTHWESTERN

WARREN COUNTIES...



At 846 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line

extending from near Lacona to 5 miles southwest of Lakeside Casino to

5 miles southwest of Lamoni, moving east at 25 mph.



HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.



SOURCE...Lamoni Airport gusted to 70 mph at 840 PM.



IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable 

         tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, 

         roofs, and outbuildings.



Locations impacted include...

Osceola, Lamoni, Lakeside Casino, Murray, New Virginia, Grand River,

Van Wert, Decatur, Weldon, Lamoni Municipal Airport, and Murray

Roadside Rest Area.



This includes Interstate 35 between mile markers 1 and 5, and between

mile markers 11 and 44.

 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly

from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the

basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.



For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a

building.
