...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM APPROACHING THE WATERS...



The areas affected include...

  Tidal Potomac from Indian Head to Cobb Island MD...

  Tidal Potomac from Key Bridge to Indian Head MD...



At 343 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm, capable

of producing winds to around 30 knots and small hail. This

thunderstorm was located over Mason Neck State Park, moving southeast

at 15 knots.



Locations impacted include...

Indian Head, Occoquan Bay, Gunston Hall, Mason Neck State Park,

Leesylvania State Park, and Smallwood State Park.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Mariners can expect gusty winds, locally higher waves, and lightning 

strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this 

storm passes.
