.Short term...

The upper air sounding from this afternoon shows a dry and stable

profile compared to the midnight sounding. Breezy, east winds of 

15 to 20 knots are also evident as a strong ridge dominates over 

the Samoa Island chain. Although a dry and stable pattern is 

known, showers embedded within the trade wind flow could produce 

brief showers at times. Hence, scattered showers with winds of 10 

to 20 knots will persist through the weekend. 



.Long term...

By Monday, the ridge will gradually weaken in the area, 

diminishing winds to 10 to 15 knots by Tuesday. However, a mid-

level high pressure anchored over the Samoa Island chain is

expected to maintain stable conditions through the new week.

Meanwhile, another high pressure system at the surface is 

forecast to build over New Zealand. This feature will enhance 

trades once again for the remainder of the forecast period.

.Marine...

Latest wave heights observed at the PacIOOS buoys are around 5 to

7 feet. Although these heights fall below the advisory threshold

of 8 feet, winds up to 20 knots continues the small craft 

advisory for the territory. Observers reported white caps over 

open waters, which is an indicator for rough seas. Expect these 

conditions to remain through the new week as trade winds persist.
