Winds have decreased today as low pressure tracks northeast. Gusty but lighter west to southwest winds will persist through the afternoon hours today across much of the area. Temperatures will increase slowly over the next few days with highs topping out a few degrees above normal on Friday before our next low pressure system develops from an open trough in the eastern Pacific Ocean. The weekend weather system will bring stronger wind and increased precipitation chances to the area. The highest chance for precipitation will be the southern Great Basin where 0.25 to 0.5 inches of rain could fall Saturday afternoon through Sunday. There may be a few sprinkles in the Las Vegas Valley and areas south, but those showers will not be widespread. There will also be the possibility of a little snow at the higher elevations. The forecast trend has been increasing with respect to precipitation so stay tuned for future updates. Yet another trough will impact the area early next week. At this time it seems weaker and with less moisture but will keep us windy through at least Tuesday. && .AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 00Z Forecast Package...
