Trying on a new warmer spring feel the next few days across the region may have us reaching for warm weather clothes today and Monday. Western Nevada valleys are aiming for the 70s, with some warmer valleys climbing into the 80s. Keep the sweaters and pants handy for Tuesday, however, when increasing winds and shower chances will accompany tumbling temperatures. In fact, this next round of active weather will revive snow chances along the Sierra, with locations above 7000 feet seeing snow as early as Tuesday morning. Recent guidance offers a range of 6 to 12 inches along the crest through Thursday. Keep in mind the spring caveat of high sun angles and longer diurnal warming cycles will help to melt any snow off area roads rather quickly this time of year. Tuesday and Wednesday offer us a few embedded lightning strikes possible with snow showers along the Sierra. HRICH && .AVIATION... * VFR conditions will prevail into the weekend, with mid-to-high level clouds streaming across the region. Light southwesterly breezes make their return Sunday afternoon. Winds pick up Monday (gusts 25-30 kts) ahead of the next weather system, which is slated to bring gusty winds, chances for rain, thunder, and Sierra snow Tuesday through Thursday. -Johnston/HRICH && .REV Watches/Warnings/Advisories...
