Main Points: -Red Flag Warning is in effect through 9 PM tonight. -Complex wind forecast this evening, with gusty west winds getting pushed around by an incoming cold front later today. -More critical fire weather and another Red Flag on Friday. Discussion... Winds across the area will remain out of the west-southwest through the early afternoon, before a cold front moves in from the north. Current data shows the front arriving in southern El Paso County between 3pm and 5pm this afternoon, with winds shifting out of the northwest, and then the north. Over the next few hours, until the front passes, there will be a chance for a few high-based showers in the general area. No precipitation is expected to hit the ground, but virga and outflow winds will be possible. Current confidence puts chances for outflow near the fire around 50 percent. In general, winds will gust 30-35 mph through about 3pm, weakening slightly as the front moves through. Along and behind the front, gusts will be more in the 25-30 mph range, though any virga could give brief gusts to 45 mph. Once the front is through, winds will weaken this evening into tonight, turning northeasterly before becoming light and variable closer to midnight. Clouds overnight will mostly clear, with RH recovering to 40-45 percent. Low temps tonight will be in the mid- 30s. For Friday, another Red Flag Warning is in effect, 11am to 9pm. Gusty southwest winds will pick up by late morning, gusting 25-30 mph. RH will again fall into the single digits, with partly cloudy skies.
