Dry and cool conditions are forecast across Northern Alabama with low temperatures from the lower 50s east to near 60 west. Dry weather is expected in the morning. An increase of atmospheric moisture, along with daytime heating and resultant instability, and an approaching system will bring chances of showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon. The activity should overspread the area from west to east Friday evening. Some of the storms could produce strong gusty outflow winds and heavy downpours. Mixing heights generally greater than 6000 ft AGL, and transport winds at or above 15 mph will produce dispersion rates, ranging from Good west to Very Good east. Fair to Generally Good dispersion rates are expected on Saturday. Fog potential over the next few days: Late night patchy fog development could occur in sheltered areas across northern Alabama late tonight.
