Fire weather concerns will be lower today. Though dry air will allow humidity to fall to 20 to 25 percent across much of our northern and western counties, winds will be relatively light gusting 15 to 20 mph this morning and becoming weaker through the afternoon. Winds will be out of the north much of the day, through about mid-afternoon when a surface high crosses over our area. This will lead to lighter, more variable winds for a couple of hours before they shift to easterly or southeasterly by around 7-8pm. Rain chances move back in on Saturday (15-30% in Iowa, and 30-70% in Nebraska). Even areas that don't see much rain will see humidity stay higher through the day, leading to low fire weather concerns. Scattered showers (30-40% chance) continue into Sunday with a heavier round of showers and storms expected Sunday night into early Monday. Widespread rainfall amounts over the weekend of an inch or more expected, with locally higher amounts, especially in northeast Nebraska.
