A few light rain showers moving across the Red River Valley into western Minnesota this afternoon have brought no more than a few hundredths of an inch of rain. The main impact has been winds, with strong southerly winds already turning southwesterly and then westerly along a front. The front that is currently moving into the Devils Lake basin will progress west to east tonight, with strong westerly winds continuing into tomorrow. Sustained winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph across the Devils Lake Basin into northern and central Red River Valley, with only slightly slower winds further south and east. While there will be some recovery in RH values tonight, many areas will stay below 50 percent. RH readings tomorrow afternoon are expected to be down into the 20s for most areas. Red Flag warning has been extended through tonight and into Friday. Winds should decrease and temperatures drop a bit for Saturday. Widespread rainfall is forecast Sunday and Monday, with a 60 percent chance for portions of southeastern North Dakota and west central Minnesota to see an inch or more.
