Light winds will continue into this evening, but begin to shift to the southeast and pick up overnight. By Thursday morning, strong southeast winds 25 to 45 mph will be found in the Red River valley and eastern North Dakota. A front moves thru from west to east with a band of clouds and some light rain showers and higher RH values, reaching the Red River midday and Minnesota in the afternoon. Even with the clouds, there is still a 50 to 60 percent chance that RH values will drop down close to 25 percent in the Red River Valley particularly as winds start shifting to the southwest. Have a Red Flag Warning out for much of the region Thursday. All areas Friday will see west winds at times gusting 40-55 mph and RH values in the low 20s to low 30s. Fire weather watch for all areas Friday. Widespread rainfall is forecast Sunday and Monday and some areas may receive over an inch. Critical fire weather continues across eastern North Dakota with RH values down into the 25 to 35 percent range and sustained winds mostly above 25 mph. RH values east of the Red River in the Minnesota counties of the Red Flag are a bit higher due to recent cloud cover, but winds are there and RH values will drop a bit more in the next few hours. Winds will diminish and RHs start to recover this evening, with winds becoming light and variable later tonight. Sunny Wednesday and a dry and warm airmass will give RH values 20 to 30 percent. Winds will be much lighter with high pressure overhead. Near critical fire weather conditions may occur due to low RH despite the lighter wind. Thursday will be another windy one, with south winds this time gusting 50 to 55 mph over eastern North Dakota and the Red River valley. Strong winds may make it to Roseau, Thief River Falls as well. Lowest RH values will be a tad higher but still in the 30 to 40 percent range and there will be a chance for showers and isolated thunderstorms. More wind and even lower RH values on Friday with winds this time from the west. Another day of critical fire weather may occur.
