This is our drawing robot, it is able to draw images 3’x4′. It is a type of plotter called an polar plotter (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polar_plotter). It uses an Arduino (https://www.arduino.cc/) to take commands from a computer and control the motors. The image is created in a vector format and then is processed into a list of X/Y coordinates along with when the pen should lift up off the paper. We have had a lot of fun making big heads using the robot. The parts were 3d printed and the pen cradle hangs off window blind cords. It is very slow and takes a long time to draw an image. We can use pens, markers, or pencils for the drawings. There is a small servo that controls an arm to lift the cradle off the paper when it needs to move to the next line.
